Long Island Homeowners Secure Your Property!
As Long Island and the Tri-State area along with the rest of the East Coast prepare for Irene to hit, Newbrook Insurance wants to help make sure you are prepared.
The National Weather Center is still not sure where Irene will make landfall, but it is expected that it will be somewhere on Long Island or New York City. Areas to the east of where Irene makes landfall, will experience more of the intense rain. Either way we all will feel the effects of a dangerous storm that needs to be taken seriously.
Now is the time to make sure you have an emergency supply kit ready. Your kit should include:
- A supply of water & non-perishable food
- A manual can opener
- Medications
- First Aid Kit
- Battery Powered Flashlight & Radio with extra batteries
- Emergency cash and credit cards
- A full tank of gas
- Change of clothing
- Personal hygiene items like toothbrush and toothpaste
You should be monitoring the TV and radio for the latest watches and warnings! Secure outside objects that can be picked up by the wind.
If you are told to evacuate, please do so! Know ahead of time your evacuation route. Make sure all family members know where to go, and have a family memeber outside the evacuation area as a contact should you get spearated from your family.
Long Island Homeowners should be seucring their property now in the calm before the storm.
In the event of power outages, they can be reported to LIPA at 1-800-490-0075 or 631-755-6900.
And after Irene passes, please know that Newbrook Insurance will do our best to answer your questions.
Be smart, be careful and stay safe Long Island!
