A new article in the Insurance Journal highlights just why insurance companies require us to find out what kind and how many dogs you have in order to get coverage for homeowners insurance. Many breeds such as Pit Bulls, Rotweilers, German Sheppards, etc are on underwriting lists from the insurance companies that prohibit us from binding coverage. The increase cost of dog bites averaged over $50,000 in New York in 2014. If you have one of the harder to insure dogs, we can still get you coverage it is just that your options become more limited.
